CLAUDE EVENCE JANSSENS

about polyMorphosis

written and arranged by Claude Evence Janssens,  p o l y M o r p h o s i s  [Urban jazz trip]  is a soul-jazz patchwork organised on the basis of themes from C.E. Janssens, quotes from jazz standards, paraphrases of J.S.Bach and influences of various blues guitar players, funky drummers, funky bass players, with the contribution of singers and instrumentalists gathered around the project. A surprising criss-cross where great standards themes take various and unexpected forms, depending on the new harmonic context in which they appear. The instrumental parts composed by C.E. Janssens as well as the vocal ones interwine with the quotes of renowned composers, the whole thing overhanging a soul and groovy background tinged with marching band arrangements. That blend is all along steeped in emotion, lyrism and climax.
