C'est nourri d'influences de la musique d'Asie du Sud-Ouest que Claude Evence Janssens a composé l'album « Eastern waves in a sea of blue notes » (Ondes orientales dans une mer de notes bleues), qui par ailleurs trouve ses racines dans un jazz modal où les rythmes s'emballent et se suspendent tour à tour, empruntant volontiers la voie des métriques impaires ou du rubato flottant, les percussions indiennes venant élargir le champ des influences. Un flux de vagues orientales se mêle ainsi à des tourbillons de notes bleues.

Une exploration entre nostalgie, mystère, méditation, tendresse, émotion, embrasement, lyrisme, lieux de l'âme où le jazz, le blues, les musiques du monde s'allient et fusionnent au son de la clarinette basse, de la clarinette alto, du bugle, de la trompette, du piano, du oud, de la guitare, de la contrebasse et des tablas.

It is nourished by influences from South-West Asian music that Claude Evence Janssens composed the album "Eastern waves in a sea of blue notes", which also finds its roots in modal jazz where the rhythms get carried away and hang in turn, willingly taking the path of odd metrics or floating rubato, dotted with Indian percussion. A flow of oriental waves mixes with swirls of blue notes.

An exploration between nostalgia, mystery, meditation, tenderness, emotion, conflagration, lyricism, places of the soul where jazz, blues, world music and impressionist writing combine and merge to the sound of the bass clarinet, alto clarinet, flugelhorn, piano, oud, guitar, double bass and tablas.

Des mélodies, harmonies et rythmes qu'a développés Claude Evence Janssens dans l'album « Crossed waves in a sea of blue notes » (Ondes croisées dans une mer de notes bleues) on ne saurait déterminer précisément quelles contrées les a imprégnés. Mais on peut déceler, outre l'influence de musiques du monde variées, celles, majeures, du jazz et du blues, non sans les intrusions d'une élégie, d'une valse, d'un boléro, à l'ombre desquelles on croira croiser parfois Satie ou les impressionnistes Ravel et Debussy.

"The voice" est la plage 6 de l'album "Can it be you that I hear ?", musique composée par Claude Evence Janssens pour 4 voix, piano, quatuor à cordes et contrebasse d'après les textes de grands poètes anglo-saxons et américains du 19ème siècle.

"The voice" is the 6th track of the album "Can it be you that I hear?", music composed by Claude Evence Janssens for 4 voices, piano, string quartet and double bass based on the texts of great English and American poets of the 19th century. Among the poems are "Invictus" and "O Captain! My Captain!" respectively known to the public as the favorite poem by Nelson Mandela, which gave its name to the book and the film "Invictus", and the cult poem of the book and film "Dead Poets Society".

Classical singer Kris Belligh, pianist Jean-Philippe Collard-Neven, the quartettists of the Amôn string quartet and double bass player Adrien Tyberghein made their remarkable contribution to the creation of this album on which Claude Evence Janssens also plays bass clarinet , alto clarinet, flugelhorn and trumpet.

Thanks to the technique of overdubbing and thanks to the versatility of singer Kris Belligh, the latter (whom prinicpal voice is the baritone) sang all the voices that can be heard throughout the album: alto, tenor, baritone and bass!
Jean-Philippe Collard-Neven, in addition to his contribution as a pianist, produced the album.
Released in September 2023 on SOOND label (ref. SND 23005) and distributed by PIAS, “Can it be you that I hear?” is available on all platforms in the name of Claude Evence Janssens.

Vidéo de la composition de Claude Evence Janssens intitulée "ET SI...", commandée par Univers Parallèles et écrite pour 5 percussionnistes et 13 instruments (marimba, marimbas bambou [dits "také marimbas"], vibraphone, glockenspiel, caisses-claires, grosse-caisse, tambours japonais [dits "taïkos"]), le tout secondé par des sons de synthèse. L'oeuvre dure environ 18 minutes. Il est important d'y entrer pleinement, le principe de la composition étant une progression de plus en plus intense conduisant à un climax final. On peut voir en action 5 percussionnistes chevronnés (France, Pays-Bas, Belgique) agiter de manière fascinante leurs baguettes et mailloches tout au long d'une partition aussi exigeante pour les musiciens qu'envoûtante pour les auditeurs. Avec : « Hop ! Trio » (Christian Bini, André Groen, Pierre Quiriny), et collectif « Arbuste » (Nicolas Aubin, Nathanaël Pinna). Régie Technique : Lauris Bini Les images vidéo et le montage sont de José Huedo, la prise de son est de Renaud Carton. La composition "Et si..." a bénéficié d'une bourse de la Fédération Wallonie Bruxelles.
